For 2008, the Land Rover Range Rover receives upgrades to its standard features, including parking guides that add a measure of security to the back-up camera's view.
The Range Rover comes in two models: the HSE, which uses a 4.4-litre V8, and the Supercharged (S/C) model, which uses a supercharged 4.2-litre V8. Both are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, and both include permanent four-wheel drive. The system includes Terrain Response, which allows drivers to adjust the vehicle automatically into one of five modes, for general driving, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand, and rock crawl.
Features on the HSE include 19-inch alloy wheels, three-zone automatic climate control, electronic four-corner air suspension, six-CD Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 stereo with auxiliary jack, DVD-based GPS navigation system with colour touch-screen, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, back-up camera, cruise control, twelve-way power driver's seat with three-position memory, heated leather front and rear seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, power tilt and telescopic wheel, variable intermittent wipers, rear wiper, Class III towing hitch, power-folding heated mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and bi-Xenon headlamps.
The S/C adds 20-inch alloy wheels, 14-way power driver and passenger adjustment, heated and cooled seats, and adaptive headlamps.
The flagship of the Land Rover line, the Range Rover is one of the most luxurious on the market, but it really can hold its own in the worst off-road conditions. You'll probably never get close to tackling sand dunes in Africa, but it's nice to know you could.
